Website Visitors

Like most website operators, iCapsid collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. iCapsid's purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how iCapsid's visitors use its websites. From time to time, iCapsid may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

iCapsid also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. iCapsid does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to iCapsid’s websites choose to interact with iCapsid in ways that require iCapsid to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that iCapsid gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up for a an account at Siafoo.net to provide a username and email address. Users of Siafoo can also provide other personally identifying information such as contact information (blog, phone numbers, and others) for display to other Siafoo users or the Internet community in general. Display and access of such information can be controlled via the privacy settings of the user account. In each case, iCapsid collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with iCapsid. iCapsid does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Aggregated Statistics

iCapsid may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, iCapsid may monitor the most popular Siafoo.net objects and pages, or the distribution of operating systems, web-browsers and nations of origin in order to better tune the service to the end user. iCapsid may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, iCapsid does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

Third party services:

Siafoo.net and other Information Capsid sites use Google's AdSense and Google's Analytics. AdSense provides targeted advertisements for the site to help pay the cost of operating and updating our services Google Analytics provides a very cool interface for displaying visitor information such as web-browser types, geographical regions, pages visited, etc. Both services rely on embedded JavaScript to gather and display information.
